Addictions, most of us have them in one form or another. They can be obvious such as addiction to drugs, alcohol or other substances. They can also be more subtle, such as addiction to food, sex, TV, social media, shopping, people and gambling, etc. We can even find ourselves addicted to particular emotions, beliefs, thoughts and relationship patterns, to name just a few. In many cases it’s not only the effect of the substance or behavior we actually become addicted to, but the chemicals our bodies secrete in response to our engagement in them.


Most addictive behaviors arise out of our desire to not feel whatever it is we are feeling at the time we engage in them. Addictions are also often created to avoid being true to ourselves in a way that is authentic and aligned with our best interest. Frequently what is in our best interest requires expressions and actions which can make us feel uncomfortable. As we continue to turn to our substance or behavior of choice we develop a habit which can become seemingly impossible to break.


Many attempt to break these addictions and recover their lives and sense of well-being by trying to stop the behavior itself such as drinking, smoking or gambling. There are many proven recovery programs, including 12-step programs, that work for many. That being said, there are those for whom these programs have not been effective at empowering long term recovery. Our program’s approach is to meet people “where they are at” and create an optimal, effective and fulfilling recovery experience. We are here not only to help those who are new to recovery, but also for those who have experienced any kind of setback in their recovery.


Others who have achieved a degree of long term recovery often experience a plateau in their growth trajectory towards a fulfilling life. There are also those, who have many years of long-term recovery who are not experiencing the emotional balance and well-being that is here for them.
